Anime Prompts – Stable diffusion anime prompts on OpenDream
Are you an anime fan and want to create “cute anime girl” or “cool anime guy” images? The following article shows you how to create anime characters with different poses and styles with OpenDream.ai – I hope it saves you some time.
Anime Models
OpenDream has a built-in anime-specific model, so you can rest assured that all of its results are anime-like – the model called Dreamlike Anime 1.0. Although this tutorial is based on a 2D anime-style movie, you can apply it to a 3D, cel-shaded, or realistic style.

Basic Prompts
The prompts can be very different depending on the model you are using:
To simplify things, you can design your prompt in the following order:
Negative Prompts
Negative prompts can make a big difference between AI photos, so don’t ignore them. You don’t need to write confusing negative prompts, I usually start with simple words like 3D, and realistic (worst quality, low quality: 1.4).
Only add more details when absolutely necessary.
Subject – Age, Physique, Emotion
The order of the prompts is important, so you should start with the main topic(s) and the action/story.
Age – You don’t have to give an exact age because most models only understand if it’s a girl or a man or they can’t clearly distinguish the age of each character.
Male – Man, elder man, teen boy, boy, Shota
Female – girl, teen girl, elder women, women, loli
Physique – slim body, big body, scrawny body, large body, gorgeous, elegant, muscular, buff, sexy, thin body
Emotions & Expressions – expressionless, smile, sad, shocked, maniac, embarrassed, angry, ominous, ahegao
Just do a “portrait poses” search on the Internet, and you will get a ton more… But OpenDream may not understand all of them.
Hair
Bald – No hair, shaved, buzzcut
Better than the generic “short hair” – curly hair, mohawk, bowl cut, spiky hair, messy hair
Dreadlocks – Applicable to both boys/girls.
Hairstyles of the ladies – hair drill, braided bun, hair bun, pixie cut, twin tails, braided hair, pigtail, ponytail
Bangs and “extras” – bangs, hair over one eye, forehead, blunt bangs, crossed bangs, age.
Clothing – Tops & Dresses
Unisex – t-shirt, high neck top, sleeveless shirt, long sleeve shirt, tank top, jacket, blazer, trench coat, turtle neck, overall, jersey, coverall, suit.
Tops for the girls – bralette, tube top, sports bra, crop top, halter top, corset top.
Dresses – halter, corset, babydoll, kimono, gothic, victorian, yukata, qipao, hanfu, hanbok.
Clothing – Bottoms, Accessories, and Materials
Bottoms – shorts, jeans, pants, mini skirt, skirt
“Modifiers” – leather, lace, denim, frills, layered, pleated, mesh, embroidery, cutout.
Accessories – necktie, ribbon, bowtie, choker, socks, necklace, stocking, glasses, garters, headdress, etc.
Views & Angles
Works – top-down view, side view, back view.
Zoom & Angle – extreme close up, close up, cowboy shot, dutch angle shot, mid shot, fisheye shot.
For those who are not into photography and videography:
“Cowboy shot” is pretty much from hip to head.
“Mid shot” for “midrange”.
“Dutch angle” is the fancy way of saying “tilted angle”.
The “fisheye” term involves capturing images with an ultra-wide angle lens that produces a characteristic circular distortion.
Regarding landscapes, tilt-shift can effectively achieve a bird’s eye view, but its suitability for specific models may vary.
Self-explanatory – bokeh, blurred background.
“Gotchas” typically focus on the body, specifically the chest area, rather than the head. This type of shot can be visually pleasing but may not be suitable for headshots. Head shot sometimes mistaken to be THE HEADSHOT.
Upside down is weird. Just plain weird.
Styles
Finally, we have what is known as “style suggestions” located at the conclusion of the prompt. Although these are not mandatory, I highly advise considering them. As evidenced by the example, these suggestions can drastically alter the appearance of “typical anime” to resemble a work of art.
– abstract art, splatter, graffiti, pop art, pixel art, line art, limited palette, polaroid, flat color, papercut, film noir, outline, monochrome, ukiyoe, pastel color, watercolor, traditional art style, Chinese ink painting.
There are a lot more, but I shall leave it once again – cyberpunk, steampunk, atompunk, arcane, dystopian, sci-fi, and apocalyptic.
Quality
– masterpiece, key visual: It affects the overall image quality.
– best quality, sharp image, professional artwork: Seemingly has “little effect”.
– intricate, highly detailed: Adds more details. But kind of a double-edged sword when the image becomes too busy.
Example
How can we combine all the elements to produce stunning anime images? Let’s take a look at an illustration to understand better.
Prompt: A loli, slim body, smile, curly hair, intricate oriental dress, clouds, trees, masterpiece, best quality, highly detailed.
Negative Prompt: 3D, realistic (worst quality, low quality:1.4), mutated, missing fingers, extra fingers.
The exciting aspect of AI-generating images is the ability to combine various styles and observe the resulting output. For instance, one can experiment with combinations such as “monochrome with red splatters,” “traditional Ukiyoe with watercolor,” and “line art film noir.”
